Pilates

Pilates is one of the most thorough forms of exercise in the world. It dramatically improves posture, flexibility, balance, coordination and strength through slow, controlled movements and proper breathing.

Pilates is “mind-body exercise”: focusing the mind to perform the exercises correctly requires maximal concentration! Due to the mind-body link, progress is rapid and great results are felt and seen quickly both during the sessions and transferring into daily life.

Regular Pilates training creates a long, lean body; with toned, flat abdominals, ripped thighs and bum, and a strong back.

Tammi brings a wide range of trainings to her teaching and practice of Pilates.

Tammi was born and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, where she trained as a classical ballet dancer. A life-long interest in natural health and healing subsequently led her to training in Reiki, Body Alignment Technique and Energy Release Therapy, in addition to various forms of massage, which she practiced both privately and in top health spas and hotel-spas in Cape Town and London.

She then undertook a four year full-time training as a medical herbalist, graduating from the College of Phytotherapy in the UK in 2002. On her return to Cape Town she was in private practice as a medical herbalist until 2006.

During this time that she discovered Pilates training and was amazed at the effects it had on her own body. On learning about its wider applications and benefits, ranging from rehabilitation to performance enhancement for top athletes, she decided to train as a Pilates Instructor.

Tammi completed her training in Mat 1 & 2; Accessories; Rehabilitation and Peri-Natal Pilates with Equilibrium in Cape Town in mid – 2006.

Tammi feels strongly that her background as a professional dancer gives her a unique perspective and advantage in Pilates instructing for all levels and abilities.
